The main Island (and later Kowloon and the New Territories, parts of the mainland) was a British_a href="http://ejssrdn.com"_ clonoy_/a_ for most of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In The Course Of this time it grew from a fishing village and opium trading hub, into a city-state of 7 million people. It grew to become recognized as a free-wheeling, totally free marketplace paradise for capitalists, with an economic climate characterized by reduced taxation, free of charge trade and no govt interference in business.
