SafeWay Disposable Alcohol Detectors SafeWay is a disposable alcohol breath tester specifically designed for sales to civil and military law enforcement and for forensic applications. Safeway alcohol testers are available in multiple percentiles to test for various levels of breath-alcohol concentration (BrAC). SafeWay does not require batteries nor costly re-calibration. It is designed based on a chemical reaction that is not sensitive to any gas but alcohol. This highly selective reaction to alcohol reduces chance for a false positive situation as it is more common with the semiconductor sensors. Safeway sensitive crystals change color when exposed to alcohol.

How to read the color changes in SafeWay The crystals in the .02% tester will become an aqua(bluish green/greenish blue) color at an alcohol level of .02% or greater. The .02% tester is designed to report the lowest level of alcohol, and therefore does not report intermediate levels.
Choose SafeWay .02% device where the "Zero Tolerance " law is enforced
The crystals in SafeWays measuring .04% or higher will turn a greenish hue at an intermediate level of alcohol. In other words, a greenish cast indicates the presence of alcohol, but not in excess of the degree for which the tester is designed to detect. An aqua cast (bluish green/greenish blue) indicates levels at or above that designated value for the tester. Remember, the SafeWay .02% tester indicates the presence of any alcohol with aqua-colored crystals.
