Unions are meant to solve that problem by forcing employers to deal with their employees as a group, rather than as individuals they can fire at will. This is a good thing, and was a key part of the creation of the middle class in the mid 20th century. Sadly, unions are losing power and the middle class is shrinking rapidly. If nothing is done, we will soon return to the pre-union state of the late 1800s and early 1900s.
